“38 year old local Technology company doubles down on Northwest Georgia”

How it started:

Chris Carey invested in Rome, GA nearly 16 years ago. Trading a promising sales career in the big city for the opportunity to move his young family to a quiet,  beautiful place and join a small, established local tech company.   Since then, Chris has never looked back or second guessed.  It was not much more than a year in, he bought his new employer out.  With Chris at the helm, Logical Systems, Inc. was on a new course.

Over 16 years, Logical Systems  has grown from a small three person company to five times the headcount and $2M in sales.  The majority of growth came from cabling installs, phone communications, security camera, access control, audio/visual, and Cyber Security in education, state and local government sector.  A small service fleet was added and Logical Systems became a primary resource for advanced network infrastructure projects and cabling in Rome.

Along with growing the business, Chris’s passion for helping others and giving back is well known throughout the community.   Maintaining relationships with long time non-profit partnerships is built into the mission.   Since moving to Rome, Chris has engaged as a board member for Habitat for Humanity, Family Resource Center and Rome/Floyd Chamber of Commerce.   Fast forward to 2020, a national disaster, years of ups and downs and massive changes in the tech space, Chris decided on his next big move.  A second leap of faith.  Starting another technology company.

A new focus on technology support services:

It seems only yesterday computer security was loading antivirus software. Computer data was stored on a 4-6 lb. oversized laptop and  tape backup drives had basically one option.   There were no required complex passwords and disk installation was the only way to get new software.  With a 6 month crash course, anyone could provide office computer technology support.  Today, tech companies must provide ongoing training and systems are very sophisticated.  New security problems and computer functions appear at lightning speed.  There is a never ending need for fine tuning, upgrading  and updating platforms.   Lastly, pile on increased demand for user support, regulatory compliance, remote access and cloud applications.   All this made it clear, Logical Systems needed a new IT support service solution.  It would become logicIT.    Simply put, logicIT  provides a computer technology outsourced computer support service focused on small and midsize business.   This allows smaller organizations to have  a full-time team of computer engineers  without the overhead.   A small business can meet complex security and regulatory compliance the same way their larger corporate competitors do.

Recruiting an old friend:

In 2020, Allen Truett, an old college friend and industry partner over the years decided to take a similar leap of faith.  Convinced by Chris’s story, he decided to transition his career to Rome, GA.   With him comes over 25 years in the Computer technology support business. He began a small successful IT company based in Atlanta, GA in the early stages of computerized business operations.  Over the next 25 years, he managed support teams at 3 very successful technology firms.  His changing roles and growing career came through fast paced expansion and corporate mergers.    Allen managed teams in Birmingham, Charlotte, and New York City, overseeing hundreds of computer networks.  Working with industry leaders building successful technology platforms and support systems.

Northwest Georgia calling:

The opportunity to grow a new division of an already established company such as Logical Systems was a gold needle in the haystack.   In his words, Northwest Georgia is an under the radar growth area in our country.    Compared to fast growing areas with drastic population shifts, poor planning and cultural challenges, the area maintains a hometown feel and an optimistic culture that builds trust on handshakes.   As the area continues to grow in popularity, more businesses and professionals will seek a clean, safe place to live and work.   With that growth, a vacuum of computer technology support needs will develop.

Since developing sustainable, stable and agile computer technology is Allen’s business, Rome was an easy decision.  And, like his long time friend, Chris, embracing people and community is Allen’s nature.

Growth and Giving:

Allen and Chris spent 2020 building a business plan for logicIT.    Some new staff, fresh capital injections, and adjustments in the operating model, logicIT went live  at the start of 2021.   The goal, show existing partners even better service and lay the groundwork for an anchor company that will make an impact in the growing region.  The only tech firm that provides true high tech support services and cloud solutions by a team based in the heart of this beautiful area.

Not left out of the plan was giving back.  Along with Chris involvement, Logical Systems, Inc. has provided free projects and discounted technology services to many nonprofits in Rome.  Knowing this about Chris and Logical Systems only increased the appeal for Allen.  Over Allen’s career, he also spent many extra hours helping organizations that did not have excess funding for technology.    Allen’s work history includes non-profits like Techbridge in Atlanta, GA and United Way and Apparo based in Charlotte, NC.  Together Chris and Allen want to build logicIT to add more growth in the technology space in the area, as well as continue to find ways to give back.   The first 2021 initiative will create a logicIT non-profit board to help manage how logicIT growth can best directly impact key nonprofit partners.  Allen and Chris hope everyone in and around Rome, GA will follow logicIT to see and help with the exciting mission.
